Fritanga Monimbo: Kendall’s Hidden Secret
Posted in Food on January 28th, 2009 by adminFRITANGA MONIMBO, the dream of entrepreneur Alfonso A. Gaitan Urbina, was established in Miami, in the early part of 1988. A native of Tipitapa, Nicaragua, Mr. Gaitan and his group of investors, decided to bring to the varied multi-national South Florida community, the typical and delightful cuisine of his homeland; yet making it available in a convenient manner, better suited to modern lifestyles.
The word FRITANGA has its roots in the Spanish word freir, which means to fry. MONIMBO is the name of a small town in Nicaragua.
Traditionally a fritanga dish consists of Carne Asada (charbroiled beef), Gallo Pinto (kidney-bean rice), Tajadas (fried green plantain slices) or Maduros frito (fried ripe plantains). Typical dishes also include Enchiladas (deep-fried corn tortilla, filled with spiced meats), Cerdo Frito (fried pork pieces), Moronga (fried blood-pudding), Chorizo (fried sausage) and Queso Frito (deep-fried white cheese).
With this concept in mind, Fritanga Monimbo developed a way to get a satisfying, fast and affordable meal, with the distinctive home cooked flavor of Central and South America.
The broad menu, delicious homecooking, excellent service and affordable prices have made Fritanga Monimbo a notable success story in its short, yet meaningful years of existence. This recognition has allowed Fritanga Monimbo to grow; now offering four convenient locations throughout South Florida.
